While one should not argue with a genius like Bryan Caplan, where is the evidence that Ben Bernanke is anything other than a hack?  Bernanke thinks the gold standard ruined Western Civilization, can’t figure out the interplay between boom and bust cycles, admits he has nary a clue about whether the Fed should tighten up or the central bank take a breather and the very sound of his voice drives the market into a nose dive.
You could stay up tonight trolling for monetary policy articles or you could just take the sound advice of a blogger named Apollo3333.

The fed chairman job is the easiest job in the world:
1. Call in all the dollars.
2. Replace with gold.
3. Close down the fed.
4. Let interest rates be set by a free market.

Some of you may have experienced a problem connecting to the site this morning. Since I’m responsible for the site, and I had made no administrative changes recently, it caught me rather by surprise. It was clear from the start that since no other site our ISP’s server was working, and since it was producing a download link rather than running the PHP scripts the site uses, that PHP was not functioning properly. Here is what the ISP says:

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience, there was a problem with PHP on the server. It has been resolved.”

Whyyoulittle–[choking sounds]. It’s ridiculous for something as relatively simple as PHP to be missing or misconfigured on an enterprise server for 3+ hours. Any competent Linux Admin could fix such a problem in just a few minutes. And where’s Red Hat’s highly touted (and paid) support team? GLGHAAAACCK [sounds of exasperated head banging repeatedly on desk]

There is a horrible civil war raging in Iraq, just like David Wurmser - who helped lie us into this war from the Office of Special Plans and the state dept. - predicted in 1997. Hell, I predicted it too. I read “The Commanders” by Woodward in High School, and in it Powell explained that if they had overthrown Saddam in 1991 the place would have broken apart. It did. Wurmser was promoted.

I guess it doesn’t matter how many people die as long as James Baker can keep that oil off the market and the price artificially high.
