"All day long today the story we’ve been chasing has to do with major new charges about the handling of the Iraq war - evidence that the reality is far worse than we’ve been led to believe."
Quoth Brian Williams - Tom Brokaw’s replacement as the "news anchor" on the NBC Nightly News - in his introduction to a story titled "Baghdad Under Curfew" from the night of Friday September 29th. (Watch it here.)
Just one question here Brian:
Who the hell is this "we"?
You are the one who has been doing the misleading. You are the one.
I know what you’re thinking too: "But my job is to repeat what the state says because they are the origin of all things. It never occurred to me that it was my job to find the truth myself and tell you about it."
And perhaps you’re right. Perhaps your job is being a liar, or a tool of liars if you will - telling us what the military contractors that run NBC want you to in order to keep us afraid enough and dumb enough to keep our country at war and our government flowing our tax dollars into their bank accounts.

It looks like CNN talks all day long about war: no other national television stays all day talking about war! I think they are trying to make us feel as worry as they can, and even forcing it a bit…
Yeah that f***ing MSM. This is a cartel, you know? I think young people with a certain threshold quotient of RAM and Mhz between the ears are hip to this.
It’s the people over 45 or 50 who run the goddamn country who, largely, don’t have a clue that the MSM is basically just a tool, filled with planted CIA operatives and corporate shills.
This is stupid. But that’s what you expect coming from antiwar.com.
You go get em Wedge. Show them CIA operatives they can’t hide from you.
“I think young people with a certain threshold quotient of RAM and Mhz between the ears are hip to this.”
Wedge,
The mere fact that you refer to human intellect in terms of RAM, Mhz, and being “hip” is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
The corporate-government Leviathan is not going to be thwarted by kids with A.D.D. jumping up and down and reciting lyrics from the latest Green Day song.
But it would probably make you feel cool.
GS. Okay…? And your point is?
…Okay, so I’m unfunny today. Certain people have higher processing efficiency than others. Get it? Ha a. Okay, bad joke. Sorry. Geek humor not welcome, I forgot to read the sign.
By the way, Green Day sucks. Their music sucks and so do they. How dare you make inferences about my musical taste and my mental state.
Feeling “cool?” I really don’t give a flying f*** about being cool. I am too old to be cool. I have a job and a family. That’s not my business to be cool. It is a luxury one cannot afford.
Re: the MSM containing various shills of the parent corporation as well as the of CIA, that is not false. It is very likely to be true. That is not my opinion. It is a fact. And that is why Brain Williams is a big joke, as is ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox.
Re: the older generations being oppressive to the young? Yes, that is true. They have had all the money and the power in this land–no on earth–and they have completely squandered it and left the young with nothing but their stupid, silver-lined coffins and the horrendously bad state of affairs bequethed to future generations.
Of course that is their perogative to make the economic choices they did. As a good libertarian I don’t blame them on that. I blame them for using the State as their tool to institutionalize and perpetuate their gargantuan stupid ideas to be carried on the backs of the young into the garbage hump of history’s failures.
It is intellectually sloppy not to mention distasteful to heap collective blame on entire swaths of people, and so I ask you to completely disregard this entire post. Have a nice day.
Hmmm, I am part of that generation, the over 45 set. I did a tour in Viet Nam. The big media lied then and they lie today. Nothing has changed except more people either believe it or just don’t care. My generation did fight and/or protest Viet Nam, so I think we know something.
I have been anti-war since my tour in the war. War is the most pornographic thing humans have ever devised. Maybe if the newsreaders actually saw what war really does to the people involved in it they might have a different take on it. Same goes for the Congress critters and the White House folks. Those shits never met a war they were not afraid to let someone else fight.
Just my 2 cents based on personal experience. As General Smedley Butler said, war is a racket.
