“There are so many players in Iranian politics, many times the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. That might well be the case,” he explains. “It is possible that there are a few hotheads supplying weapons and support without the central government knowing.”

yeah, Gates should know. he better not dig too far. it may just lead back to himself.

    American Weaponry found in Iraq.

Serial numbers and markings on explosives used in Iraq provide “pretty good” evidence that Americans are providing either weapons or technology for militants there, Defense Secretary Robert Gates asserted Friday.

Gates’ comments made official the American weapons connection first reported by CBS News at the end of January, when officials told national security correspondent David Martin that serial numbers on parts used to make advanced explosive devices, powerful enough to murder thousands of people, had been traced directly back to America.

…All this intrigue eminentes from the term “Regime Change in Iran.” Washington may keep its friends close; but its enemies much closer. I imagine Mr. Perle and Wolfowitz and their well heeled friends at The AEI still entertain dreams of returning the Pahlavi regime to power

Even though the NYT is a vile tabloid, I’m surprised they did this so soon after their last display of lowbrow warmongering.

Alex Cockburn would be a good guest for Scott. He doesn’t believe in Peak Oil or mankind being responsible for climate change, and is consistently antiwar.

…A shoot out in the singular, becomes mass annihilation in plural…Barbarism multiplied with expedients if you will…It keeps with the aphorism of insanity being the exception in individuals, but normal in the collective

…As I often heard said in the low wage workplace: “First time? OK fuck me…Second time? Nuh-uh—Fuck you!”
