Politicians “these days” have long since ceased to listen to the electorate. Have you seen any serious efforts to stop the war in Iraq? There was some outrage after the latest bunch of weenies sold out to Bush but now most people accept the fact that the US will be in Iraq for some undefined span of time or until the Iraqi insurgency makes it too painful to remain there. The politicians do the bidding of those who put and keep them in power. The powers that be want to control the energy resources of the Middle Eastern region. In order to do that someone must subdue the local governments and other elements that are resistant to this plan. Not enough troops to do the job? People at home getting tired of all the war BS? Can’t buy off the bad guys? Nuke ‘em, that will show them…
In a further attempt to answer AA’s original question I will offer up Mark Steel’s piece Why does Saudi Arabia need military aid? If it was not so tragically true it would be funny…
Ha! Obama is the more peaceful of the candidates, and would “only” use JDAMs with special forces.
Always knew that. It must be his good looks, charm, and articulate public speaking skills, but Obama happens to be one of the Democracks I can tolerate viewing and hearing for more than just a split second.
Hillary? Ack. Her voice sounds so harsh, her face is so evil looking… When she goes off to calculatedly scoop up a percentage
here or there of the white, male, northeastern, short man bad ass vote who is apparently immune to her reptilian demeanor and visage, why does it not surprise me? But such things I would rather hear about–and not witness on TV–because one of the few things I enjoy is working up a healthy appetite and subsequently imbibing delectables without becoming too ill.
Mudshark, that’s what really surprises me. This won’t getting much airtime on tv. Ironically, Ron Paul’s “gaffe” with Rudy probably earned more scorn and derision than this will. Howard Dean’s “yeee-hawww” moment will be treated as a far greater screwup.
Worst of all, belligerent rhetoric like this gives people like Musharraf whatever political cover they may need to further augment their nuclear arsenal and weapons delivery capabilities. As far as they are concerned the next warning they may find could “come in the form of a mushroom cloud,” to paraphrase Condi Rice.
Obama scares me. Even I, lifetime opponent of Democratic politicians, feel less threatened by his talk and demeanor than by the other major candidates’. Ugh. That’s some amazing charisma. That’s scary.
‘won’t be getting much airtime’? yeah, because it’s already hit the ether of the american attention span. aside from the relative handful of hardcore’s and/or political prostitutes, no one’s listening until september of ‘08 when their “choices” are defined for them.
No Obama has little substance, but he at least has a nice, soothing and uplifting tone to his voice, and he is young and handsome. He will be loved around the world for absolutely zero reason, at least for awhile.
If I’m going to be swindled of my income in another Democrat wealth redistribution plot, it might as well be from Obomb-ah.
WTF is wrong with politicians these days? How can the public not be shocked by this rhetoric?

I don’t drink much, so it must be all the alcohol.

Ah, come on. It’s funny anyway.
How can the public not be shocked by this rhetoric?

Obama Mulatto has as much substance as a pile of nothing.
Whatta phoney baloney.

I guess Ron Paul should be quiet also, even though he is the only one with answers:
