#10 actually, but that seems pretty good to me.
Congratulations to Eric, Justin, Matt, Jeremy, Jason, Margaret, Michael and me. And Ron, Alan, Gordon, David, Phil, Doug, Sascha, Nebojsa, Praful, Ivan, Gareth, etc., etc.
Thanks to Eric Garris for the link.
Where’s wonkette?
…Scott…Looking back to my days in Venice CA, 1979 through ‘84, I do believe that I might now remember Eric Garris. There was a certain talkative, if not articulate and informed fellow, relatively tall as I recall, fair skinned with dark hair, who constantly argued Politics and/or gave Libertarian-Conservative discourse to the local, post 60’s Venice Bohemians of the era. This at in a place near the corner of Pacific and Windward called Neubar’s Cafe. If it’s the same guy, he was consistently outnumbered, and ridiculed by these local tie-dyed beard and sandal patrons, whose Counterculture Convictions—Were still very much the order and consensus of the day, certainly in Venice, if not most of California. If I’m not mistaken, I remember one post Hippie era, Abbie Hoffman “Yippie” type telling him he was “Right of Adolf Hitler” and other disagreeable things. Yet it never seemed to bother him. He always had a condescending, if effective comeback. The long haired and bearded drunk, a self styled Willie Nelson that I drank with and worked for casting statues for a local sculptor, referred to him as one of the “Most obnoxious guys in Venice.” While I never took occasion to discuss things with him, I do recall he was in there most every morning while I bought coffee to go and that he seemed generally disliked, yet somehow tolerated, which seemed to delight him…Anyway, all of a sudden—and this thanks to Wikipedia—I wonder if it was him? If so, tell him I remember him.
Congrats Scott and Co.
I don’t think it was me, I moved from Venice in 1974. I hope I was better-liked than that.
…Left in ‘74? Nah, couldn’t have been you then…But like I say, this guy always seemed to get in the last shot, while the rest? Just repeated themselves and The Party Line ad nauseum; they couldn’t hold their own with him intellectually…Anyway, I’m sure you’ll agree Venice, CA was a helluva place “back in the day” as is said. That ambiance particular to venues of unconventional, dissident thinking once found there, is long gone.
Considering that Antiwar is mostly devoted to foreign affairs, rather than domestic politics, that’s pretty impressive. Y’all should sign up on digg.com and try to bump any antiwar.com story that you think others should read. That will attract more people to the site.
I notice Ron Paul is the top Republican online, according to the same site:

But we knew that already.
Better perspective of Republicans only here:

About 30 points up on Romney.
