A beauty pageant winner from South Carolina was asked the following question: “Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the United States on a world map. Why do you think this is?”
South Carolina answered as follows:
I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., er, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children.
Here is a Youtube video of the answer. It is painful to watch, yet I cannot look away. I was reminded of Britney’s statement on how we should all just shut up and support Shrub.
It appears this girl answered the question without meaning to. Here are some answers I can think of if she’s ever asked this question again:
“Because Americans don’t give a shit about the rest of the world.”
“A fifth of Americans also voted for Shrub.”
“They keep changing the maps every time the US conquers another country and wipes out its civilian population”
“Because the US education system isn’t designed to teach useful or practical information, it’s designed to teach ‘diversity’”
Feel free to add your own.
How about:
America is the greatest Goddam country in the world and everyone wants to be us, so what is the point?
How about: We live in a Communist country and send our children to Communist government schools and since government thrives from failure and has no incentive to do a good job, they don’t.
Because our ignorant and elitist-snob leaders want us to be stupid so that they can pass more laws, raise our taxes and we won’t be able to oppose them.
Hah! Damn, makes ya proud to be ‘MerKKKan as Bushie says. I bet yer jealous yer just a tasty Canadian, Oz ( http://www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page1532.html ) Our gubment run education rules. So my fellow Merkans slam down another brewsky, slap another support the troops magnet on yer SUV and watch this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DJN2QTyQ0Fo
How ’bout, “Who gives a shit if American school kids can’t read a map? Surely not the education gestapo running the schools. Any kid with a mind would eventually realize on his own — without school — that reading a map can be a helpful thing. He doesn’t need a prison to drum it into him. Abolish the public ed system and vote for Ron Paul.”
That’s the answer I’d expect an educated youth to give.

“Who gives a shit if American school kids can’t read a map?”
Exactly. Our government masters want kids to look at a map and think Iraq is Disney World so when they get drafted they’ll all shout “I’m going to Disney World!”
Dang, that video is making it big time in the foreing press, too.
You’d think after looking ridiculous with these things for years AmeriKans would give up the Miss Junior Puberty contests.
This is the best Idiocracy clip right here:

“Because, oddly, the fact that they can’t find a certain country on a map never seems to have made young Americans ask wether going to invade and occupy that country was something they wanted to be a part of”.
“Because if Americans saw that big-ass ocean that separates America from the middle east, that might cause them to figure out that an Islamic army invading America and forcing us all to become Muslims at gunpoint is actually pretty much impossible”.
