Wow. I never thought I’d say this but I’m starting to respect Montel Williams. More to the point, the troops who die in Iraq are the American public’s responsibility. That’s why we should talk about them.

That little MTV harlot was rather disappointed that Ron Paul didn’t want to subsidize her sex life.

Yeah, me too. I remember the first time I saw him on TV. Guess it was the early ’90s. My first thought was why does Marvin Hagler have a TV show?

Anyway check out his life. From an “ossifer and a gentlemen” to a rodeo clown to a TV star.

Williams enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1974 and completed his recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. While training at Twentynine Palms, he was selected for training at the Naval Preparatory School and a year later, he was accepted into the United States Naval Academy.[2] In 1980, he graduated with a degree in engineering and a minor in international security affairs. Upon graduation, Williams was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. [3]

Williams served on board the USS Sampson during the U.S. invasion of Grenada. His awards include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Navy Expeditionary Medals, two Humanitarian Service Medals, a Navy Achievement Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals and two Meritorious Service Medals. He retired after 22 years of military service as either a Lieutenant,[2] or a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy.[4]

    Television career
In 1991, Montel was a rodeo clown in Switzerland for a year prior to going on TV as a talk show host, The Montel Williams Show, syndicated by CBS Paramount Television. In 1996, Williams received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host. He was again nominated for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2002, and the Montel Williams Show was nominated for Outstanding Talk Show in 2001 and 2002.

Williams also guest-stars in episodic television and off-Broadway plays. Among others, he portrayed a Navy SEAL lieutenant in several episodes of the television series JAG. Williams also produced and starred in a short-lived television series called Matt Waters, which appeared on CBS in 1996. He played an ex-Navy SEAL turned inner-city high school teacher.

Williams played the judge presiding over Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) murder trial on the ABC soap opera All My Children in 2002. In 2003 Williams made a guest appearance on the soap as himself, to promote an episode of his own show on which several AMC stars were scheduled to appear.

Ron Paul Beats McCain in Maine Caucus, Primed to Win Over 1/3 of State Delegates

In the race for delegates, Ron Paul appears to closely trail Romney for first place

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    February 4, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – While most reports about this past weekend’s Maine Caucus focused on the purely symbolic presidential preference poll, in the meaningful race to secure delegates to the state convention Ron Paul is primed to finish second with likely 35 percent of the total delegates.

Delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis are elected by the state delegates. Internal results from 10 of 16 counties, including the largest cities of Portland, South Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Waterville, Bangor, and Brewer, show Ron Paul picking up 215 of 608 State Convention delegates so far reported, or 35%.

“Ron Paul’s strong second place finish in Maine, in which he beat John McCain, is proof that this race is far from over,” said Ron Paul campaign manager Lew Moore. “We’ll continue to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination.”

In the presidential preference poll, with 70 percent reporting, Ron Paul is in third place just two percentage points behind John McCain. However, the Maine preference poll is purely a beauty contest, and in the actual election of state delegates the so-called “frontrunner” McCain is far behind Ron Paul.

It’s ironic that Ron Paul has done so much better in states like Nevada, Maine and even Louisiana than in the state the Free State Project people chose. Why did it turn out that way?
