Anarcho-Leftist Election Analysis

A friend writes:

Romney dropping out shifts the situation rather drastically. It certainly gives the clearest lead to McCain, Huckabee won’t be far behind Romney and this leaves Ron Paul spinning in the wind where he neither gets to debate McCain, because McCain will simply deny him as negative unimportant, and losing less and less of the media attention. This makes me believe that if Dr. No runs on a Libertarian ticket, he’ll thus be in a different and more visible playing field-media all talking about a third party chewing away at both Demo and Reps, and place McCain in a situation where he’ll have to acknowledge Paul again. Remaining a Repo at this juncture harms Paul’s campaign. If he wants to continue having an impact, he should go Libertarian.

Also, since we’ve begun this presidential season so early this year, and McCain is leading, he’s kind of in trouble. There’s a long time between now and November. He’ll have no one to debate. He’ll just be running around the country and giving speeches, drumming up the same old support but by November he could appear stale, old, representing the old school with little to say to the public. Which helps both Obama and Hillary because they will continue debating and appearing as if (although it ain’t true) there are still two choices to be had in their party.

All of which means, I think, McCain just got throat cut and our next president is assuredly a Demo. We’ll see.

  1. 1) No comment on Luskin switching to McCain??????

    2) I believe the Texas primary is March 4th…. Could RP beat McCain in his (RP’s) home state? If so, it might be worthwhile for RP to stay in until then…I’m sure TX has boku delegates…don’t know if its winner take all…..

    3) I know RP has a primary opponent…..Is his opponent credible? IE Deep pockets? Establishment support….

I know haowrushed you were when Bob “B1″ Dornan was pre-occupied running for president that he wound up losing his house seat (in the general) a few years ago…. Don’t want that happening to RP…… I understand he has no Democractic opponent in the general.

    4) How much $$$$ does he have left? I saw NO MEDIA BUYS (AT ALL) in thew NY/NJ/CT area…..is he saving it? If so, for what?

  2. Who’s Luskin again?

I’m in PA and have only seen RP signs around here still. Maybe one Billary or ChangeUberAlles randomly. No TV/Radio for anybody, but our primaries aren’t until April.

  3. With Romney gone, it could mean the end of the Republican debates. Will McCain debate the Huckster? I’m sure he wouldn’t debate Ron Paul one on one unless he had to. We won’t if he is this far ahead of him in the polls.

  5. Here is a direct quote from LUSKIN on the interview Scott aired………………………………….

I believe in Ron Paul so much I’ll do a write-in on my ballot come November for him if I have to……..

  6. What a piece of shit Luskin is. This guy was as big a phony as they come.

Remaining a Repo at this juncture harms Paul’s campaign. If he wants to continue having an impact, he should go Libertarian.

Yes. There’ll be no more Republican debates from here on out. McManiac has absolutely nothing to gain from debating Huckleberry and especially Ron Paul. With Romney bowing out, the establishment has spoken.

But if RP is gonna go 3rd party the first thing he ought to do is fire his entire campaign staff and get some people who know how to run a national campaign.

  7. Luskin going to the dark side…
Who does Paul trust? I hope this doesn’t say something about his judgment to pick advisors…

Funny shit…. That’s what politics are about ;)

  8. SteveC: Man, I have no idea. McCain must have offered him something nice… Or something…

  9. This hurts Paul’s campaign. Fox news will love it!

  10. Hillary is the next president.

  11. Scott:

Forgetting about the ethics on LUSKIN for a minute…lets talk sheer pragmatics….. To do what he did….doesn’t that undermine his CREDIBILITY on everything……from future endorsements…. to stock prognostication….. to doing a multimillion dollar business deal with a handshake….. I mean, this could make sense if Paul changed his economic stance…. or McCain adopted some RP policies…….or even if RP dropped out and said he would not run 3rd party….or even after being quiet for a few months….. But you can you go on TV and make a clear and specific pledge…and then reneg publicly….in a day (or 2)…without any explanation….

Forget that we are RP supporters….. Suppose the guy switched from Edwards to McCain…. or whatever…. forget your politics….why would any person with self respect do this?

    Hillary is the next president.

It sure looks like it at this point, but I don’t imagine everyone just sitting back and accepting a Billary vs. McCainiac ion the fall. Who the third choice will be is something I am not sure of. I don’t see the right accepting Bloomberg as that option. I think it would be good if the vast majority of the public realized that neither one of these is on their sides.
