The Show

for today:

Sorry there wasn’t one. I’m sick and had some things that needed taking care of too. The show may be spotty here and there for the next week because I’m moving to the south side, but will be live tomorrow from 11am-1pm Texas time.

Always wondered what your favorite intrepid pirate radio reporter looks like? Well, here’s my arm.

  4. From the BBC, thanks to James Ostrowski

In case you think my description of Obama as the Picture of Dorian LBJ might be perfectly apt on domestic policy but not foreign–keep in mind that LBJ was the peace candidate in 1964 too:

    BBC:

The campaign for the 1964 election took place in the middle of the escalating Vietnam War. Senator Goldwater’s demands that North Vietnam should be continuously bombed and his questioning of the US social security system proved unpopular. The Democrats adopted a social reform platform, with President Johnson, also known as LBJ, campaigning as a candidate of peace, pledging not to widen US military involvement in Vietnam. But soon after his election he increased the number of US troops in the region after sustained attacks by the communist Viet Cong. Troops numbers continued to mount reaching a peak of 550,000 in 1968.

  26. “In case you think my description of Obama as the Picture of Dorian LBJ might be perfectly apt on domestic policy but not foreign–keep in mind that LBJ was the peace candidate in 1964 too…”

No John, you are absolutely right. Obombya is just saying what he needs to say to win the Democrat base. This guy is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. You can’t be in his position and not be a blood thirsty warmonger and that’s why I’ve always referred to him as Iraq Obombya.

It looks now that it will come down to Obomby and McNutJob. And we are doomed.

  29. Hey Scott, ya better be careful in that thar skateboard church. Don’t be gettin’ yerself hurt cause modern medicine may not be much help…Just one example….

Glaxo Chief: Our Drugs Do Not Work on Most Patients
    by Steve Connor

A senior executive with Britain’s biggest drugs company has admitted that most prescription medicines do not work on most people who take them.

Allen Roses, worldwide vice-president of genetics at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), said fewer than half of the patients prescribed some of the most expensive drugs actually derived any benefit from them.

  30. My wife disagrees, but I have been doing my best to stay away from a doctor for over five years now. She’s conspiring to pull me into a visit for a “baseline.” Arghhh.

  31. The Picture of Dorian Gray?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray

I’ve heard this phrase before before, but being culturally illiterate I never knew who Dorian Gray was. I think I knew Oscar Wilde wrote plays. It sounds like a neat Twilight Zone episode. I’m not sure what they’re talking about with Obomya. He’s going to bomb like LBJ, but keep looking pretty like JFK?
