If there is one thing that the government (police in this case) is good at it is putting all of the people that should be in jail, in power.

I put in 30 years as a Seattle police officer and my statute of limitations has run. in the bad old days the general rule was that misdemeanors by police officers (friends, wives . . . the mayor) were ignored but felonies were not. I would not give a police officer a ticket for something I might give a break to any of you for.

Police Officers have a large gap with the public they claim to serve. This type of preferential treatment does no good in eliminating that perception. This case is exactly the kind of claim that needs to be heard in a civil court, not settled out of court with a non disclosure agreement!
If someone who was not in LE would have been accused it would have made CNN.

I hope not drug testing the shooter comes into play now! If he was not intoxicated or under the influence there should have been no problem - we see the lady submitted and was clean! Now this puke of a cop has to prove he was not UI - the lady already has!

It is such a shame that 95% of the police give the other 5% a bad name. Obviously the police commit more
crimes than the average citizen and get away with it. They cover for each other and have become one of the
largest criminal organizations pretending to be "Law enforcement officers". They have a responsibility to
lead by example not to be a criminal with a badge and a gun. The problem is that the standards have been
lowered so much and the pay is not great that the job only attracts the high school bully types. These are the
dangerous ones that should be in jail and the police should be protecting us against them. Until they clean up
their act they will never have the respect of the law abiding citizens.

OF course the cops are always innocent until absolutely all evidence has been super cleaned by the police dept. My rule is to never trust a cop as i believe they are all part and parcel of the new SS. A shane as i suppose there may be a few honest cops still around. probalem for citizens as they have no rights vis - a -vis police.

This story reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer started a band of vigilantes.

"Look buddy, your car was upside-down when I got here. And as for your grandmother, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that."
- Homer Simpson

Kent Brockman: Well, what do you say to the accusation that your group has been causing more crimes than it's been committing?
Homer: Oh Kent, I'd be lying if I said my men weren't committing crimes.
Kent Brockman: (pause) Mmm, touché.
