  1. One of the bloggers on the sidebar at lewrockwell.com asked: Would Republicans have done Waco? My answer is:

In 1993? No. In 2008? Certainly.

Don’t forget, for those of you who listened to him at the time, that in the fall of 1993 Rush Limbaugh called Bill Clinton every kind of boob over Mogadishu, and lectured us all about what a bad and unworkable idea nation-building was, especially in a country that shared none of our cultural values. That’d be the same Rush Limbaugh who, if you turn him on today, will tell you all about how our project to turn Iraq into a secular liberal democracy has its victory hiding right around the corner.

  2. But Negrol, that was before ‘nane elayven’, everythings changed, mass murder has become expectable.

  3. Nergol, don’t waste too much energy on trying to differentiate from the two parties on issues like this. They both want to expand their power and control at our expense. I don’t doubt that either one would kill innocent civillians at the slightest hint of an opportunity for gain.

  4. Nergol, that was my post at LRC. And I disagree. The Republicans planned Waco, they did Ruby Ridge, they expanded the police state for the drug war, they took America to war with Iraq the first time, and they’ve always been evil.

  5. And as for Somalia, for goodness sakes it was Bush I who sent American troops there in the first place.

  6. …How opportune to see your name Tony…Briefly: Heard some talking head/financier from Rome today state on MSNBC I think, that, 1/3rd of US Retail Banks could find themselves insolvent before the year is out…What do make of this? Because it frankly scares the shit of me; that or it was intended to…Bottom line: They bust out most the Retail Banks in this Nation, and I promise you that all unholy hell will break lose.

  7. Of course Waco still matters. Waco is part of the human condition.

Masada was “Waco’ed” by the Romans. Jesus Christ was Waco’ed by the Romans and the Sanhedrin. The Polish Jews were Waco’ed by the Nazi’s. Hiroshima was Waco’ed by the Americans.

It doesn’t matter if one is a Republican or Democrat. When someone is deemed to be sufficiently “Different”, they can become a Boogeyman and less than human. The Mob (or its proxies) can then enjoy the spectacle and watch the Other burn burn burn.

  8. Let’s face it, our rulers wouldn’t think twice about murdering people like us if they couldn’t get what they want any other way and if they thought they could get away with it. Our the way our rulers have always operated and always will.
