Douglas E Bubbletrousers created funyons in 1923. Bubbletrousers, born in 1892, went on to use the Funyons company as a front for bootlegging during the Prohibition era. Bubbletrousers was arrested for posession of 56 barrells of moonshine, as well as prostitution charges, involving a goat and two gypsy twins in 1936. He was later released and died shortly thereafter in late 1948 for unknown reasons. Douglas Bubbletrousers remains a bright beacon of inspiration to snack makers worldwide, from the whorehouses in Tijuana to the Palace in London, Douglas E. Bubbletrousers has put smiles on the faces on millions of people.

You don't know who Douglas Bubbletrousers is?!?!?!?!?!

It's a dumb throway line from the movie, Hot Rod, with Andy Samberg (which is so ridiculous that it gets funnier everytime you watch it). I have an OCD thing where I keep bringing it up. My apologies for being so repetitive and annoying. Honestly, great speech though.

The blip.tv site is too slow here, so i downloaded the 246MB video, did some postprocessing to clean up sound and visual noise and crunched it down to 91MB. Looks better than the source file IMO.

http://pupnik.de/Scott_Horton-UofTexas_Speech_April_28-The_Reasons_for_Attacking_Iran.avi

I'll leave it up for a few weeks at least, so feel free to pass the link around. Smaller file, faster download.

If you're curious about the tech, here's the command I used to process it.

mencoder Scott_Horton_on_Iran.flv -o Scott_Horton-UofTexas_Speech_April_28-The_Reasons_for_Attacking_Iran.avi -af volnorm -af channels=1 -oac mp3lame -lameopts lowpassfreq=10500:highpassfreq=100:mode=3:vbr=0:br=48 -vf-add scale=480:360 -vf-add softskip -vf-add denoise3d=4:4:9 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=120:vhq=3:lumi_mask:autoaspect

My mental image of Scott was about 5 foot 4, thin, completely bald or shaved head, with eyebrow and lip piercings and tattoos.

Didn't picture him to be all cleaned up and in a freegin suit and tie. But that's okay, you see. I think Scott has wide appeal to multiple demographics, and the more his message gets out, the better.

Y'know what would be really freaky BB...If Scott received another speaking engagement at some other campus in 6 or 8 weeks at the Scott Horton on that video was maybe 20lbs heavier....and had a slightly different nose.....kinda like Webster Tarpley's thesis that their are bunch of different actors playing OBL.....or like the multiple Lee Harvey Oswalds in Oliver Stones JFK.....

>I always imagined Scott to look pretty much exactly like “The Voice”

Until I finally got to see what he looked like I was beginning to think Scott might be hollographic or a computer generated voice. :)

I always imagined Scott to look pretty much exactly like "The Voice" in the 1997 remake of Vanishing Point (which is underrated btw). Anyway, you've made a lot of painful bus rides to and from work sufferable, Scott. I'll be sure to load this lecture in my MP3-player and listen to it after my usual Antiwar Radio fare. Thanks!

Excellent lecture. As far as your appearance I would say it was in contrast with the music you play.

Scott,

I'll second Tim's remarks. I had a mental image of the typical taxi cab driver: a little on the disheveled side, with hair and a waistline to match!

Instead you would fit in in any newsroom or around any corporate conference table...! Absolutely nothing wrong with that...I tend that way myself.

Irrelevant remarks aside, you are to be commended as probably the most informed voice in international affairs on the English-speaking airways today. (I listen to a good deal of BBC Radio 4 and World Service. Even their most "in-depth" news and current affairs have nothing on your reporting. And they have billion of pounds of "license fees" to fund their efforts!)

Keep up the fine work.
