Dr. Paul throwing his support to McCain would be a complete betrayal of everything anyone who’s mildly informed that has been supporting him stood for. He knows that. He’s said repeatedly that he couldn’t endorse McCain for that very reason.

Isn’t Wiegel one of those Reason idiots? Why should anyone care what he has to say?

Frankly. even leaving ethics aside, I see no upside to Paul endorsing McCain…..
Q1) What can they punisg him with? NOTHING? Redistricting (done that). Finance his opponent? Not give him primo committee assignments.
Q2) Okay…. What’s the carrot? A big speaking spot at the convention? Aint gonna happen. A cabinet post? Aint gonna happen.

But, shit the claim is made (by Wiegel) that some RP campaign insiders are pressuring him to endorse McCain?

If so, WHO? ….. and for what ourpose?

Strange Event……I clicked on the Phil Girardi link….and got to The American Conservative….and saw a heading….”Eunomia”…never heard of the word…clicked on it (it means the principal of good order)….and it a Comment by Daniel Larison on exactly the quote I was wondering about….Kismet? Dejavu? Serendipity? Don’t know…But it was kinda weird….

I have to assume that they will keep being overruled, and the idea of Paul endorsing McCain is risible. But it is telling that there are some in the campaign who want this to happen. My first guess would be that they are the same ones who wanted throw long-time Paul loyalists to wolves like Kirchick* over the newsletters business to satisfy squeamish supporters. I can think of few things that would wreck the grassroots enthusiasm Rep. Paul has stirred up, but an endorsement of McCain might do it.

THE BELOW FROM DAVID WEIGEL AT REASON WAS POSTED ON THIRD PARTY WATCH

I saw Ron Paul on Wednesday, at a signing event for The Revolution, and he told me he won’t endorse Baldwin or Barr. He’ll kinda-sorta endorse both. He won’t stop them from using photos of him or talking about his campaign.

“Chuck was in my office today to say hello,” Paul said. “but I haven’t said anything about supporting either one of them. I support both of them in what they’re doing, and I encourage them, but that’s all.”

“Maybe you’ll endorse McCain and surprise everybody,” asked one of the people walking out of the event with us. “That would surprise me, too!” said Paul. But this is actually a sticking point in the Paul campaign: Some people in his circle want him to swing his weight behind McCain once the primaries are over. At the moment, they’re being overruled.

REGARDING THE NEXT TO LAST LINE…………… WHO IN RON PAUL’S “INNER CIRCLE” WANTS HIM TO ENDORSE JOHN MCCAIN???? If this is true (and I have no idea if it is) I’d like to know who that would be….. He doesn’t owed McCain or the Reps shit.

He’s only hurt himseld w/ a McCain endorsement….. If this his true, this advice is SHIT.

…..Saw your first mention of RY DAWSON [Anti - Neocons] today……His crew is generally much, much younger than yours…..and most are also Inside Job…..but I think its good that there is crossover within the AntiWar /AntiImperial Movement….. This stuff is also broken down by catagory so you could just ignore what your not down with (ie 09/11 truth) and peruse the other catagories by country and whatnot? They also got behind RP in a big way.
