  5. Apparently Bush is in Israel making Ahmedinejad/Hitler comparisons repeats debunked claims that he called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

    quote -

“Israel’s population may be just over 7 million. But when you confront terror and evil, you are 307 million strong, because America stands with you.”

“They accept no God before themselves. And they reserve a special hatred for the most ardent defenders of liberty, including Americans and Israelis,” Bush said. “That is why the founding charter of Hamas calls for the ‘elimination’ of Israel. That is why the followers of Hezbollah chant `Death to Israel, Death to America!’ That is why Osama bin Laden teaches that ‘the killing of Jews and Americans is one of the biggest duties.’ And that is why the president of Iran dreams of returning the Middle East to the Middle Ages and calls for Israel to be wiped off the map.”

  6. At about the 7:00 mark of “The YouTube Interview”, Ralph Nader indicates that he’s is extremely interested in debating Ron Paul.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzUrUNhIj4c

Paul and Nader should immediately begin a barn storming tour debating on college campuses all around the country. I think the results would be surprising and profitable.

The results would be surprising somewhat like what happened in the early 1980’s when G. Gordon Liddy and Timothy Leary went on a sort of debate/concert tour. This is documented in a movie “Return Engagement”: Given the opportunity to get deep into their viewpoints and positions, Liddy often came across as the hedonistic out-of-control liberal and Leary appeared to be the more conservative/libertarian in his politics and moderate in his personal morality.

In a series of Paul/Nader debates, the big surprise would be their wide areas of common ground and also the formulation of harm-reduction oriented compromise policy approaches that they both could agree on.

If this debate tour got going and picked up momentum and popularity, perhaps by the conclusion of the Republican National Convention in September the Green, Constitution, and Libertarian presidential candidates would all be ready to transfer their respective parties’ nominations to a Paul/Nader ticket (or Paul/Kucinich ticket to keep the ticket filled with current national office holders).

This could be the chance of a lifetime to get a national compromise or new New-Deal-style realignment, only compromising on libertarian grounds instead of the deals we always get that mix only the authoritarian positions of the left and right.

  7. Vivian Kellums!

I never knew she was on Meet the Press.

She was a pioneer of the tax resistance movement and foreshadowed future fellow great Connecticut tax resistors Andy Melechinsky and Irwin Schiff.

  8. Also, current Lauren Canario is a famous Connecticut eminent domain resistor (last hold out in the Kelo case)–which ties into Beito’s topics.

  9. Holy Sh*t @ Olberman!

I guess Scott and him will be hanging out together at the camps. :)

  10. I saw that Olberman clip last night. After the “giving up golf” discussion, I can’t believe Olberman didn’t show the “Now watch this drive” clip:

  11. I have a bill hicks books in which Olbermann writes a small foreword, so he can’t be all bad. Although as scott said, his assertion that the democrats are coming to save the day is silly.

  12. Credit to him though ( or his writers?), how many people on MSM are saying that kind of thing ?

  13. But he dare not speak the name of Ron Paul.

  15. Rumsfeld know something was coming ? this is a transcript to an interview with larry king-

    RUMSFELD: I was.

KING: And someone told me that you had spoken to a congressional delegation…

RUMSFELD: Right here in this room.

KING: … in this room about terrorism that morning.

    RUMSFELD: I had said at — I had an 8 o’clock
breakfast — that sometime in the next two, four, six, eight, 10, 12 months, there would be an event that
would occur in the world that would be sufficiently shocking that it would remind people, again, how important
it is to have a strong, healthy Defense Department that contributes — that underpins peace and stability in our
world. And that is what underpins peace and stability. It’s the fact — we can’t have healthy economies and
active lives unless we live in a peaceful, stabile world. And I said that to these people.

And someone walked in and handed a note that said that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. And
we adjourned the meeting. And I went in to get my CIA briefing right next door here, and the whole building
shook within 15 minutes. And it was a jarring thing.
