Conscription

Say, this one is for all you Stress regulars who listen to the show all the time: I need you to help me pick a rant or two for demo material. If there’s an old one and you happen to know the date and approximate 15-min segment within which I said it or something, let me know. Otherwise, I’m going to just keep doing what I always do and hopefully within a week or two we’ll have come up with something. What do you say?

  1. Yeah, I got a good rant somewhere on the old hard drive but it ain’t about conscription.  I’ll try and find it if ya want.  I think it’s about the Imperial Senate.

  2. Conscription: That was a lame crack about you working for me for nothing is all.

    Posted by Scott | July 1, 2008, 9:07 pm
  3. Bogus–dude, you help Scott.  You will see me model a thong for Cafe Press. If that doesn’t work, donkey show.

  4. Hersh: They’ve been moving cruise missiles in there for months. Cheney’s view is no way is he going to have Israel start it. He will.

    Great stuff in this:

  5. I’m sorry Scott, but I don’t know if uou’ve got the moxie for a solo career…..I see you as part of an antagonistic team….like Hannity & Colmes….. or Curtis Sliwa and Ron Kuby….Plus, the “FAIRNESS DOCTRINE” is coming back…. I’m thinking we team you up with Dondero….or your Randian buddy Brandon Cropper….Then you can charge people 50C to call if they agree with you or with Dondero (or Cropper or whoever) and split the take….Maybe you can sell commercial space and push products like Berky Water Purifiers or Royal Raymond Rife Machines or stuff…maybe you an the co – host can even both say you like the product as “the one thing you can agree on” but them emphasize different aspects…..kinda leike Tastes Great…Less Filling….Tastes Great! No, Less Filling!  — Oh shit, that was before your time…..

  6. Tastes Great…Less Filling….Tastes Great! Hah!  Hey stevec, ya remember the easy opening can? (Bubba Smith)

    • do you think scott will sell out when he hits the “A” list of celebrities….maybe 2 or 3 years he’ll be shilling for Fox New as a member of the “controlled” left opposite O’Reilly?Y’know…O’Reilly will call for unilateral US intervention somewhere….and Scott will counter…”give the Sanctions 3 more moinths..and then intervene but get UN approval first…..”Then he’ll go out and bone a coupla playboy bunnies who think he’s edgy and a radical….

      • Well, I don’t know but as Gary Radnich says, “Ya gots to get down.”

Posted by Bob Bogus | July 1, 2008, 11:44 pm
      • Sounds good to me. As long as I don’t have to pretend I’m some sort of Southern Baptist or anything.

  7. I remember Tastes Great, Less Filling. But forget Dondaro, I want Ms. Keaton to be the Robin to my Howard. She’s what Fred Reed calls a “vicious yankee dyke bitch.” I like that.

    Posted by Scott | July 1, 2008, 11:41 pm
  8. She might wan’t you to be a syncophant Scott….kinda like that toadie in the Ascot below….Remember – she has the objectivist background – you don’t!http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=mozart+was+a+red&sitesearch=#Okay – screw Dondero…. I’ll see if Cropper will step up as your foil….. BTW, dyke is NOT PC….. The closest you can get without an FCC fine is carpetmuncher…..and you need to pretend that your sneezing when you say it – remember the “wardobr malfunstion” incident…..be careful…..especially with Joe Lieberman coming in as Veep w/ McCain.

  9. OK here ya go.  The rant gets going at around 5:20 but really kicks in a minute or two later.
Ya might need to clean up the sound quality a bit.
Hey Scott, maybe ya can use some of that Amerika, Fuck Ya music for bumpers.
OK now where’s my ticket to the donkey show???

  11. I think your best rants are probably on days where you don’t have guests and probably directed at John McCain, Scott. Probably too many F-bombs for promo material though. :) Then again, I think maybe on Monday you went off on the BS about Iran and pretty well debunked it? Maybe use that? I’ll go through and listen to some old stuff and suggest something if I think it really stands out. Some of your old interviews with Will Grigg and Greg Palast really stand out to me as both very informative and entertaining to listen to. (The former reminds me of my Uncle Frank and his blog is pretty awesome too.)Cheers!

  12. How do I get WSYIWYG spacing here, btw? I get wall-o-text in all my posts since the software update. :(

    Posted by evilpaul | July 2, 2008, 1:17 am
  13. Perhaps the rant mix could be as montages interspersed in that high-larious STs cover of “Institutionalized” that sounds uber-loungey by what’s his face…

  14. Some pretty good rants putting 911-truther’s in their place too.

  15. Scott kicks so much fucking ass. I plug the show every god damn day. Not to much effect but still.

Jesus… favorite shows… i can not decide. And the choice would have to be determined by who the intended audience is. Lame request.

    Posted by dangerbob | July 2, 2008, 8:11 am
  16. Somebody please find one of those rants where Scott lays out  the whole Austrian business cycle and slaps lefties for being completely incapable of grasping the connection between government phony money and accelerating global warfare.
Also, anything with “…recession which is a euphemism for depression which is a euphemism for panic” within it would be nice.
Also, there are some good rants out there where he unwinds the economics behind WWI, Thomas LaMont, the Morgans, etc.

  17. There was one about Laura Schlesinger’s son’s web site, must have been in May 2007 (when that was a story)–good luck finding it. It was one of those rants where SH assumes the voice of the insane idiot, in this case Dr. Laura, and affects the voice with a kind of supreme uppity dorkiness, if that makes any sense.
Anyway–that’s a personal favorite, though all of the other general suggestions are great, especially stuff about WWI and that freak of human nature and founder of the genocidal 20th century, Woodrow Wilson.

  18. I’m pasting this on your blog…Couldn’t immediately find yourmail….Ok, this first
    Jim Sinclair’s Commentary
Keep the following in mind when you read the spin on Pakistan.
Pakistan’s growing woes in its wild westAfter years of engagement in southern and eastern Afghanistan, the Taliban are now making a loud statement in Pakistan’s Pashtun areas.By Naveed Ahmad in Islamabad for ISN Security Watch (01/07/08)
Since 9/11, Washington has been pushing Islamabad toward a full-scale military campaign in Pakistan’s restive Waziristan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Swat Valley, its wild west bordering war-torn Afghanistan.
Pakistan has reacted with calculated restraint, gradually moving spies and troops into the tribal areas.
Despite its rule for over two centuries in the subcontinent, the British had abandoned these areas to their fates. During the Cold War, the tribal leadership assured Islamabad that it would, on its own, defend the country’s western border from possible Soviet intrusion, and Islamabad placed its confidence in the forces in this mountainous belt. When the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, Islamabad again relied on the tribal leadership. And, left to their own devices, religious seminaries cropped up quickly as large amounts of money flooded in from the US to fight the Soviets.
“The extreme senses of religiosity, pan-Islamism and autonomy were deeply indoctrinated among these technologically backward people, thanks to an unlimited supply of weapons and financial support from the United States and extreme use of force by the Soviets against their Pashtun brethren in Afghanistan,” says Muhammad Tahir Khan, a senior journalist covering Afghanistan for the last two decades.
    More… Then this….Your show ROCKS, I’m lovin it….

  19. All your rants are pretty good.  It might good to give them something current to show that you dont need to cherry pick.

    Posted by Rob | July 2, 2008, 9:16 pm
  20. This post highlights a problem: you podcast your awesome interviews, but you don’t podcast your equally awesome rants.  Anyway to offer that along side your interviews?

    Posted by BlowfishAvenger | July 2, 2008, 10:18 pm
    • Well, (except when the stream messes up) the whole shows can be downloaded/podcasted from http://www.kaosradioaustin.org/station/archives/6

      Posted by Scott | July 2, 2008, 10:20 pm
      • Sweet.  Didn’t know KAOS had an RSS feed for the show–I’ve been using the AntiWar.com feed.  Thanks for pointing that out!

        Posted by BlowfishAvenger | July 2, 2008, 10:27 pm
        • The page at http://antiwar.com/radio/ needs something much better than that “Listen to ” thingy that I think becomes a link to kaos during broadcast hours.
I have a hell of a time explaining to people how to listen to the good stuff in between Scott’s interviews.  How about permanent links to the kaos archive and listen pages on the anti-war radio page and an explanation about when Scott’s show airs?
Also, what’s up with the linebreaks in this textbox editor?  I hit return and I end up miles down the box.

If you have any links to Scott’s rants, email them to me.

  25. You don’t know how happy it makes me that there are other women in the audience.  I’ve been sprouting chin hair on a steady diet of Stress.
