Scott, if there isn’t enough to piss you off, there’s always this guy to rile you up. He has articles about how drug legalization is a bad idea because that will lead to more people using them and all the negative impacts on society.
+you should make Pakistan a topic.

There’s somewhat of a pashtun uprising in Pakistan (Bush’s fault btw) and the opposition has nothing better to do than trying to further escalate the situation by taking power.

The decision was later reversed, angering Hindus.’

hey scott it’s tommy, i was listening to the (other) scott horton interview and expected you to say more about the georgian force used on south ossetia before russia attacked but didn’t hear much, what gives? has there been any concrete information about what kind of force georgia used on them initially? anyways, glad the net stuff worked out for the show, g’day
Tommy, I think he was right when he cited McClatchy saying that there were 40 killed in Ossetia by the Georgians rather than the initial reports. Sounds less like the “Blitzkreig” Buchanan referred to the other day than I initially thought. So I didn’t really have much to follow up with there.
It is completely my fault that I didn’t ask him about McCain and Sheunemann. It was in my notes, but I forgot to ask before changing the subject to the Star Chambers.

thanks for doing this Rob. : )
You are welcome. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep it up, but I’ll give it a try.
I got a bad vibe from “the other” Scott Horton today.
I think he played you a little bit by buttering you up the the Von Mises love-fest before he launched into the
“Shakashvili ain’t such a bad guy, after all he was democratically elected…
A bad vibe indeed.
I don’t think the Mises reference was a manipulation. He’s an honest dude. Also, I think that in the scheme of things being elected is better than not and that other SH certainly believes in democractic principles that I put less stock in.
But he’s a little bit close to power isn’t he?
Yep.
I can’t really trust him here, he’s great on torture and i love his blog but otherwise he’s the very definition of the american establishment. I mean his (creepy/evil) lawfirm has ongoing contracts and shit with the Georgian government, right? oO
Overall, I’d say things are rarely black and white, but yes, when one is an extremely sucessful professional on the east coast, one would seem to know people in government. In my view it doesn’t taint the man. The things we disagree on, we disagree on, but no differently than when you and I do. It’s not like he ran the color revolutions, just thought they were a net gain for freedom – which is his measure of progress by the way. I really don’t know what his lawfirm is up to or if he’s even still a partner. I guess what I’m saying is that I mistrust power too, but this guy is too good on too many things to exclude him from the debate for being close to power. Hell, he’s far better on most things than the Cato Institute.
The Other Scott Horton just presented a nuanced, detailed and imo honest view of the situation in Georgia.
Don’t oversimplify: Just because the US wants that pipeline through Tiblisi under a friendly / client regime, doesn’t mean everything it does to that end is bad for the people of Georgia. TOSH has clearly a lot of experience with Sakasvilli and the caucasus, and you should respect that. Not all allies of the neocons are pure satanic evil.
