So Freenode was no longer in the mibbit pulldown. I went in using the freenode server address (ipv6.chat.us.freenode.net) and I got this message from Mibbit:
*** Notice — Connections via mibbit are no longer supported on freenode. You may wish to consider using http://webchat.freenode.net instead. Further information over at http://bit.ly/19JILF
I went to webchat.freenode.net and I got in, but there’s no way to post that I can see. It only lists me as a user, although I just saw a post by Azoth.
So for anyone else having problems, I’ve now added “chatzilla to my MOzilla” as Scott says, and I’m in. Not sure I like this chatzilla thingy as much but whatever…
Freenode has blocked the Mibbit client permanently.

I will update this soon with more details. It’s extremely sad that Freenode have decided to remove thousands of users from their network based on the client they use, but they have.
It’s a shame they didn’t give any warning, and didn’t consider the users of their network.
I have really fond memories of Freenode from years ago, sadly it’s changed a lot since then. And not for the better.
If you’d like to relocate your community to a friendly network, checkout any of the networks in the server drop down list that support WEBIRC and create a channel there. WEBIRC prevents abuse, and ensures the mibbit client and irc server work together as they should.
Over the last years, I have tried *really* hard to work with freenode. I’ve suggested ways to reduce abuse, I’ve implemented dronebl checking which wasn’t fun, but works great. I offered to sponsor servers, help code. Unfortunately this hasn’t been enough for them. They seem set on getting users to only use their own web client, so good luck to them. Unfortunately IMHO though, users should be able to use their client of choice.
If freenode want to work with Mibbit to allow users to use the client the wish to, I’m all ears and ready to code. http://blog.mibbit.com/
The Iran story is morphing by the hour, Chris Floyd already has a post about how the idea that the U.S. engineered this a color-coded revolution is ridiculous.
anyone else getting “terminated” when joining chat?
YES
I can’t get in because freenode isn’t in the mibbit pulldown (?)

This blows. I’ll try another client.
