American Racism

In a recent comment in a Stress thread, Scott referred to me as a “round eye”.  That brought back a lot of memories of wars fought long ago so I looked up this article for a little perspective on the subject. The old bromide “some things never change” applies here. We could also apply this concept to the continual criticism of the debate candidates, depicting them as being morons and nitwits… This accomplishes nothing more than perhaps making the critics feel like they are clever. In case anyone has not yet figured it out, they do not care what we think, they only care if they get elected and as history shows, the Peter Principle is in full effect. Time to wake up.

Another retired General “speaks out”

Who is it this time?  None other than Ricardo Sanchez, former commander of the Iraq occupation.  Gen. Sanchez says that we have a crisis of “leadership” in America and must do better.  Wow, how did he figure that one out?  He does not think that America can “win” in Iraq although we may be able to “stave off defeat” by doing “the right things”.  How can we do this?  No doubt by applying the standard US foreign policy of the three “B’s”, a policy of guaranteed failure that no longer works in a complex world where news travels fast.  The three B’s stand for Bribe, Browbeat and BS… and when in doubt, kill a few thousand people to show ‘em that you mean Business.  Another example of the continued pursuit of the misguided and maligned policy of our deluded leaders…  No thought of changing the policy, just that we have to do it “better”.

Chumps RUS

They lied to get us into Iraq and they are lying to keep US there…  We keep yapping and tapping about whatever while people keep dying.  Ron Paul talks about getting out of Iraq, Mike Gravel actually has a plan to do it.  The longer that we allow the bozos in charge to play us, the more the body count grows and the more innocent blood that is on our hands…  Time to wake up.

Repression of dissent for technicalities = “Chickenshit”

Back in the day, the term “Chickenshit” was an operative word.  It meant that the government or the military was using some obscure technicality to mess with your life.  This brave Marine is choosing to protest the needless war in Iraq and the government is threatening to take away his Honorable Discharge status because of his actions.  We read numerous articles citing the comments of various retired generals and admirals who are critical of the administration and their Iraq policy but I do not see anyone threatening to take away their six-figure  pensions…  The powers that be realize that they cannot suppress the freedom of speech of high ranking retirees with cheap threats but they are not afraid to try and intimidate the protests of their less visible enlisted counterparts.

re: More Baghdad Embassy Photos Leaked

Thanks, Scott, for linking some of the details on the “world’s largest embassy” complex in Baghdad.  The scuttlebutt on this has been around for quite some time but it has never been put in tangible form before.  Americans have a hard time focusing on things in the abstract and this will help.  Someone should also check and see if there are any photos of the “megabases” that have been or are being built in Iraq to house US troops and weaponry.  While the decider is busy working on his 50 year plan to keep America in Iraq, contractors are working overtime to build the infrastructure that will make it a reality…

Still Lying, Still Delusional…

Bush and Cheney keep repeating the same lies and distortions that they have been using for years and the American people keep scratching their heads.  The Dumbocrats are in full retreat and it looks like more war is in store.  When asked recently about Osama’s whereabouts Bush came up with the following gem…

At the news conference, Bush also bristled at a question about why bin Laden was still at large. “Because we haven’t got him yet,” Bush snapped. “That’s why. And he’s hiding, and we’re looking, and we will continue to look until we bring him to justice. We’ve brought a lot of his buddies to justice, but not him. That’s why he’s at large. He’s not out there traipsing around; he’s not leading many parades, however. He’s not out feeding the hungry. He’s isolated, trying to kill people to achieve his objective.”

“Trying to kill people to achieve his objective”?  Sounds like someone that the Iraqi people know all too well…  Read the whole article here.

Crazy? Like Foxes…

Had a chance to check out Scott’s recent article in Harpers where he talks about the large number of mercs that the US has employed in Iraq.  He reviews the conflicts that have occurred between them and US & Iraqi troops, asking at the end: “Or are the contractors still shielded by their cronies in Washington?”

Scotty, you need to wake up and smell the gunpowder. With the government stretching the military to the breaking point don’t you think that it has crossed the minds of our fearless leaders that they might rebel at some point? Who would the motor mouths and lard butts in DC have to protect them then? It just might be those “jackasses with assault rifles,” that you mention in the article.

When in doubt, Ignore Reality…

and the warning signs that the president is delusional.  That “unnamed Bush aide” who said we create our own reality certainly was a prophet.  Sounds like this “unnamed” individual could have been Bush himself.  Here we are, 3 years later, and Bush is still trying to reshape events to his liking.  Seems like the decider is having a little trouble with creating reality so he has taken to simply ignoring it.   “The American public agrees with me on Iraq” says the commander guy.  Talk about delusional, this guy is ready for the Thorazine and the rubber room but the corporate media just winks and lets him ramble on…  If he was a harmless nut that would be one thing but a lot of innocent people have been needlessly killed and had their lives ruined on his watch.  If he is left unchecked, there will be a lot more added to the count before he is finished.
